The Birth of The Nurture Bubble

The Birth of The Nurture Bubble

A few months ago, I was eagerly preparing to launch Becoming More Life Coaching. What I didn’t realise then was how this journey would gently unfold into something more — a space I’ve called The Nurture Bubble.

The name came to me while thinking about group sessions for carers. I wanted to create a kind, nourishing space where those who give so much to others — caregivers, support workers, busy women — could receive something in return. What I didn’t expect was how this idea would grow into me creating podcasts for selfcare, wellness, nurturing.

Yes, I’m now a podcaster — something I never imagined myself saying! But here I am, incredibly grateful to be creating this gentle podcast for emotional wellbeing.

It’s been a learning curve, and a joyful one. In fact, one of the most powerful things I’ve learned is that you’re never too old to grow into your true self. As George Eliot beautifully said, “It is never too late to be what you might have been.” At 63, I’m still becoming more — and loving the journey.

In creating The Nurture Bubble with Jenny Rankine podcast I wondered if in fact there was a need for everyone to hear calm and gentle reminders on topics such as selfcare, self-compassion, giving back some nurturing by topping up our cup, even just a little bit. This is what I aim to offer in The Nurture Bubble podcasts. For the carers, the givers, the busy women who all give so much to others, often putting themselves lower and lower down the list. These episodes are short — under 10 minutes — but offer practical self-care tools, small shifts, and meaningful reflections to reset your energy and refill your cup.

I was very excited to be ready (after a steep learning curve that included learning how to edit, record etc), to air very first podcast on Monday 27th of July 25. To celebrate the launch, I released five episodes across that first week, creating a mini-series around micro moments of self-care. Each episode focuses on something small but powerful — from breathing techniques to permission to rest.

Starting Monday 4th August, new episodes will drop weekly. The next mini-series is all about finding joy in our everyday moments.

I hope The Nurture Bubble becomes a quiet, supportive part of your week — a space where you feel seen, soothed, and gently inspired.

I’d love to hear your thoughts, feedback, or even ideas for future podcast themes. Is there something you’d like to hear about? Let me know.

Thanks for being here — and for taking a moment to nurture you.
With warmth,
Jenny

Mother’s Day: A reflection for May

Mothers are often seen as the heart of a family—the person we turn to for love, care, and guidance. Or perhaps the one we return to, time and again, to feel grounded and whole.

This May, as we celebrate Mother’s Day, I find myself thinking not just of biological mothers, but of all the people who mother. The ones who hold us with love that is unconditional and constant, no matter where we are, what we do, or who we become.

Sometimes, this person is a parent. Other times, it’s a neighbour, an aunt, a mentor, or a friend’s mum who stepped in with care and kindness. The people who shape us don’t always share our DNA, but they often share a desire for us to grow strong, live fully, and be happy.

No one is perfect—but the intention to love and nurture leaves a lasting impact.

This month, I hope you find a way to connect with or remember the person who has mothered you—whoever they may be. And if you’re someone who offers that kind of care to others—formally or quietly, professionally or personally—may you feel appreciated and seen.

For some, this month may bring up tender memories. If you’re missing someone who once played that nurturing role in your life—whether a mother or someone who cared for you in other ways—I truly understand. Grief and gratitude can coexist, and it’s okay to feel both.

As we reflect on the care and support we’ve received, it’s also important to take time for ourselves. Whether through personal reflection or support from others, it’s okay to ask for help when you need it. Becoming More Life Coaching offers a space for you to rediscover your own strengths and find the balance you deserve.

From Summer to Autumn: A Time for Transformation

From Summer to Autumn: A Time for Transformation

As summer draws to a close, many of us are breathing a sigh of relief—me included. The promise of cooler days and a break from the humidity is a welcome change. In Australia, we’re fortunate to experience four distinct seasons, each bringing its own rhythm and variety to the year. Do you have a favourite? I find myself torn between Autumn and Spring, when the temperatures are gentler, and the world feels more balanced.

With February ending and March upon us, we step into Autumn—a season of transition, preparation, and quiet transformation. It’s a time to pause, reflect, and embrace the shifting landscape around us.

A Season for Renewal and Planning

Autumn reminds us that growth often begins in stillness. Just as seeds planted now will bloom in spring, this is a season for laying foundations—whether setting new goals, beginning home projects, or simply taking stock of where we are in life. It’s a gentle nudge to move forward with intention.

Nature’s Gentle Reminder

As leaves turn golden and drift to the ground, nature offers us a lesson in letting go. Trees don’t see shedding their leaves as a loss but as a necessary step for renewal. In the same way, we too must release what no longer serves us—old habits, outdated ideas, or past burdens—to make space for what’s to come.

Embracing Change with Ease

The crisp air and softer sunlight invite us to slow down and savour the moment. It’s the perfect time for long walks among falling leaves, quiet reflection, or simply enjoying a warm drink on a cool morning. Autumn offers a gentle transition, a chance to embrace change with gratitude rather than resistance.

A Prelude to What’s Next

Much like life’s ever-shifting phases, Autumn signals that something new is on the horizon. The trees remind us that shedding is not an end but a preparation for fresh beginnings. Soon, winter will arrive with its own lessons, followed by the renewal of spring.

The seasons teach us that change is constant, but each stage brings its own beauty and purpose. So, as Autumn settles in, take a moment to appreciate the shift—the cooling air, the evolving landscape, and the opportunities that come with embracing change.

How You Can Be Your Own Worst Enemy—and How to Stop Talking Yourself Out of Pursuing Your Goals

Have you ever set a big goal, full of excitement and determination, only to find yourself second-guessing it just days or weeks later? You start with enthusiasm, but then doubt creeps in, and before you know it, you’ve convinced yourself to put your dreams on hold—again. The truth is, we are often our own biggest obstacle when it comes to achieving the things we really want in life. We talk ourselves out of pursuing our goals, sometimes without even realizing it.

If you’ve ever sabotaged your own progress by overthinking, worrying, or listening to that nagging inner critic, you’re not alone. It’s a pattern many of us fall into, but the good news is—once you understand how you’re holding yourself back, you can change the narrative and start taking meaningful steps toward your goals.

The Silent Saboteurs: Negative Self-Talk and Fear of Failure

One of the most common ways we prevent ourselves from moving forward is through negative self-talk. Those little voices in your head that say, “You’re not good enough,” “What if you fail?” or “This is too hard” can paralyze you with doubt. These thoughts are subtle but powerful, and they often sound like common sense. But in reality, they’re not helping—they’re holding you back.

Another factor that contributes to self-sabotage is the fear of failure. We often avoid taking risks because we don’t want to face the possibility of falling short. But here’s the thing: every successful person has experienced failure. It’s not the failure that defines us; it’s how we respond to it.

Fear of failure often disguises itself as procrastination, perfectionism, or avoidance. You might delay taking the first step because you’re afraid it won’t be perfect. Or you might find yourself thinking, “I’ll start next week,” which turns into “I’ll start next month,” and suddenly, you’re stuck in a cycle of inaction.

How to Stop Talking Yourself Out of Your Goals

1. Recognize Your Inner Critic

The first step to overcoming self-sabotage is becoming aware of the negative self-talk and limiting beliefs that are preventing you from moving forward. When you catch yourself saying things like, “I can’t do this” or “I’m not ready,” pause and challenge those thoughts. Ask yourself: Is this really true? What evidence do I have to support or disprove this belief?

Simply acknowledging these negative thoughts can weaken their power over you. Over time, you can replace them with more empowering, supportive statements.

2. Break Big Goals into Smaller, Actionable Steps

Sometimes, the reason we talk ourselves out of our goals is because they feel too big or overwhelming. It’s easy to get stuck in the “how” and feel like the task is insurmountable. Instead of thinking about your goal as one giant leap, break it down into smaller, manageable steps.

For example, if you want to start a business, don’t focus on everything at once. Instead, begin with a simple task: research your market, create a business plan, or register your domain name. Taking small actions each day will build momentum and help you feel more confident about your progress.

3. Embrace Imperfection

Perfectionism can paralyze us into inaction. We often feel like we have to do everything perfectly from the start, which is an unrealistic expectation. In reality, growth and success come from taking imperfect action. If you wait until everything is “just right,” you might never get started.

Instead of waiting for the perfect moment, focus on starting where you are and making progress, no matter how small. As you take action, you’ll gain experience, improve your skills, and make adjustments along the way.

4. Practice Self-Compassion

Many times, we talk ourselves out of pursuing our goals because we fear that we’re not good enough or that we’ll fail. It’s important to remember that everyone experiences setbacks and doubts—what matters is how you handle them. Treat yourself with the same compassion you would offer to a friend. Recognize that it’s okay to stumble, and failure doesn’t mean you’re not capable. It simply means you’re learning and growing.

5. Visualize Your Success

Visualization is a powerful tool for breaking through mental blocks and overcoming fear. Take a few minutes each day to imagine yourself successfully achieving your goal. Picture the feelings of accomplishment, pride, and fulfillment that would come with it. This exercise can help build confidence and reinforce the belief that you can do it.

6. Surround Yourself with Support

When you’re trying to reach a big goal, it helps to have a support system that encourages and motivates you. Share your aspirations with a trusted friend, mentor, or coach who can provide constructive feedback, hold you accountable, and remind you of your strengths when self-doubt creeps in.

Start Taking Action Today

At the end of the day, the only thing standing between you and your dreams is the story you tell yourself. If you’re constantly telling yourself that you’re not good enough, that you’ll fail, or that it’s too late, those beliefs will become your reality. But if you choose to believe in your ability to grow, learn, and succeed, you can break free from the cycle of self-sabotage and start making real progress.

So, ask yourself today: What’s one small step you can take toward your goal? No matter how small, taking action will move you forward—and that’s the key to breaking free from the self-doubt that holds you back.

Don’t let fear, doubt, or negative self-talk keep you from pursuing the life you want. You’ve got everything it takes to succeed—and now it’s time to believe that.
